The Procedure

When you have ETD, your Eustachian tube fails to open and/or close properly—causing painful ear discomfort. The balloon opens up a pathway for mucus and air to flow through the Eustachian tube, which may help relieve your symptoms.

The ACCLARENT AERA® Eustachian Tube Balloon Dilation System was specifically designed to widen your Eustachian tube—and address the problem at the source. It has been proven to relieve ear pain symptoms in patients with ETD. With the procedure, doctors can go directly to the source of the problem by using a tiny balloon to widen the Eustachian tube.

The Results

The use of ACCLARENT AERA® has been tested in patients who failed treatment with either a daily intranasal steroid spray (for at least 4 weeks) or an oral steroid (minimum of 1 completed course).

The clinical study showed the following results:

99.7 %
success in reaching and opening the Eustachian tubes
56.1% vs 8.5%
improvement in the quality of life as measured by Eustachian Tube Dysfunction Questionnaire (ETDQ-7)
serious side effects related to the device or the procedure1
