Job Title: Principal R&D Engineer – General
Location: Menlo Park, CA


Job Summary:

Design and develop next generation mechanical and electro-mechanical devices used in treatment of ENT disease.

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design, development, and commercialization of new products, existing product line extensions, and product improvements per Quality System Requirements
  • Accurately and efficiently translate user and patient needs through design requirements, design specifications, and into verified/validated devices and procedures
  • Manage development partners and other external vendors to meet project requirements and timelines
  • Supervise assigned engineers and technicians
  • Plan and complete projects in an aggressive manner
  • Contribute strongly to generation and management of Intellectual Property
  • Lead verification and validation activities through regulatory clearance and design transfer
  • Lead in design, development, execution, and analysis of results of system/device/component/material tests per laboratory best practices
  • As assigned, coordinate and execute Design, Technical, and Peer Reviews
  • Collaborate with R&D, Marketing, Regulatory, Quality, Manufacturing, Vendors
  • Work with clinicians to identify user needs and validate device and procedure designs


Qualifications:

  • Bachelors of Science in Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering (or equivalent experience)
  • 7-15 years experience with multiple Class II or Class III medical devices, including lead roles from the concept phase through design development, verification, validation, clinical trials, and market release
  • Strong track record in innovation of novel medical therapies
  • Experience collaborating directly with clinicians to translate user needs into validated device designs
  • Experience with 3D CAD required, proficiency in SolidWorks preferred
  • Preferred design and development experience with handheld mechanisms, miniature mechanisms, and electro-mechanical devices
  • Preferred experience effectively managing and leading multiple complex projects
  • Experience with design and development of electrical hardware, software, and interventional devices (e.g. guide catheters, balloon catheters, guidewires, etc.) a plus
